Incorporated in 1978 as Pitt County Anesthesia Associations, Greenville, NC is the flagship location, for the practice that changed its name to East Caroline Anesthesia Associates in 2006. The practice has steadily grown with locations across the state and in Virginia. The Greenville division is comprised of 29 anesthesiologists and over 70 anesthetists. Approximately 3,000 nurses and 1,000 physicians work at ECU Health in Greenville.

ECAA handles approximately 32,000 anesthetics per year for different types of surgical procedures at ECU Health.
