East Carolina Anesthesia Associates Appoints Jason Biddy as Inaugural Chief Executive Officer

East Carolina Anesthesia Associates (ECAA) announced today that Jason Biddy has been appointed the organization’s inaugural Chief Executive Officer, effective July 20, 2026.

The creation of the Chief Executive Officer position reflects ECAA’s continued growth and strategic evolution as one of the Southeast’s premier physician-owned healthcare organizations, providing anesthesia services through ECAA Anesthesia Specialists and interventional pain management through ECPC Pain Specialists. As the practice continues to expand its geographic footprint and service offerings, the Board of Managers established the role to further strengthen physician leadership, operational excellence, and long-term strategic planning.

Biddy brings nearly three decades of executive leadership experience leading independent physician organizations through strategic growth, operational transformation, physician alignment, and organizational development. Most recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer of Urology Clinics of North Texas, one of the nation’s largest independent urology groups. Prior to that, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Urology Centers of Alabama, where he led the organization through a sustained period of strategic growth and physician engagement. Earlier in his career, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Alabama Allergy & Asthma Center and held executive leadership positions with MedHelp Family Practice and Urgent Care and Orthopaedic Specialists of Alabama.

A Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) through the American College of Medical Practice Executives, Biddy earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and psychology from Birmingham-Southern College and an Executive MBA from the University of Alabama. He previously served as President of the Alabama Medical Group Management Association and was recognized by the Birmingham Business Journal as one of its “Top 40 Under 40.”

“I am honored to join East Carolina Anesthesia Associates at such an exciting time in the organization’s history,” said Biddy. “ECAA has earned an outstanding reputation for clinical excellence, physician leadership, and exceptional patient care. I look forward to partnering with our physicians, leadership team, and healthcare partners to build upon that strong foundation, strengthen both our anesthesia and pain divisions, pursue thoughtful growth opportunities, and ensure we remain the partner of choice for the communities we serve.”

“Jason has consistently demonstrated the ability to lead complex physician-owned healthcare organizations while preserving the culture that makes them successful,” said Dr. Don Duncan, Chief Managing Partner. “Throughout our search process, it became clear that his collaborative leadership style, strategic vision, and operational expertise align exceptionally well with ECAA’s mission and values. As our inaugural Chief Executive Officer, Jason will help strengthen our organization, support our physicians and clinical teams, expand strategic partnerships, and position ECAA for continued long-term success while preserving the physician-led culture that has defined us for more than four decades.”

As Chief Executive Officer, Biddy will oversee ECAA’s operations, strategic planning, business development, physician services, and administrative functions while working closely with physician leadership, partner hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and clinical teams to support continued growth, operational excellence, and innovation across the organization.

The appointment of ECAA’s inaugural Chief Executive Officer reflects the organization’s continued investment in physician-led leadership and positions the practice to build upon more than four decades of clinical excellence while pursuing thoughtful growth, innovation, and exceptional care throughout the region.

East Carolina Anesthesia Associates (ECAA) is one of the Southeast’s largest physician-owned anesthesia organizations, providing anesthesia services through ECAA Anesthesia Specialists and comprehensive, evidence-based pain management services through ECPC Pain Specialists. Together, the organization serves more than 50 hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and physician practice locations throughout North Carolina. For more than 40 years, ECAA has remained committed to physician-led governance, clinical excellence, innovation, and delivering compassionate, patient-centered care to the communities it serves.
