Cardiac Anesthesia

Cardiovascular Anesthesia is a subspecialty of anesthesiology dealing with patients under-going surgery on their heart or great vessels (also called "major vascular surgery"). Our practice performs cardiac anesthesia for approximately 1200 heart operations per year; including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), complex heart valve procedures, and repair of congenital heart defects. East Carolina Anesthesia Associates has provided cardiovascular anesthesia services for as long as these procedures have been done in Greenville, and most notably since the inception of the East Carolina Heart Institute (ECHI) in January, 2009. ECHI conducts minimally invasive robotic heart surgery that is recognized both at the national and international level, and has amassed one of the largest series of patients who have undergone robotic-assisted and minimally-invasive mitral valve repair and replacement in the world. We have a wide range of experience when it comes to dealing with heart surgery, and one of the largest groups of fellowship-trained cardiac anesthesiologists (Board-Certified in Cardiac Echocardiography) in North Carolina.
